WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ``LOT CONTROL`` AND ``OFF THE SHELF``?

All of our cassette inserts can be purchased in two varieties: “Lot control” and “Off the shelf”.

Lot control product

There are two materials used in the manufacture of the insert: the shell and the filter. A specific lot of shell materials and a specific lot of filter materials are paired, and one “root” lot number is assigned. This root lot number is used for the entire production run of a specific order. The “root” lot number is usually a 3 digit alphanumeric sequence followed by other digits that identify other aspects of production: location, date, etc.

Example: 12K-XXXX-XX (12K is the “root” lot number)

Lot control product is guaranteed to be produced entirely of the same ”root” lot number materials.

The minimum quantity required for purchasing “Lot control” is 500 cassette inserts. ( i.e. 10 boxes of 50). The lead time for this type of purchase is 3-4 weeks. Consult factory at the time of placement of the order. The 500 unit requirement can comprise any type and quantity of standard packaged inserts.

Many analytical laboratories that purchase our cassette inserts choose to buy in large quantities in order to assure that the lot has same underlying raw materials of construction. In this way the laboratory can validate the lot’s purity once and document the lot’s background trace metal content.

Off the shelf product

This product is manufactured from any random “root” lot number. Off the shelf product will be comprised of one lot number within the package, but an order for multiple packages may be filled from different “root” lot numbers.
